Hello All:

"5257 North Winthrop" is the address where Frank and I lived growing up as kids in Chicago. This mix pays tribute to those years when we started collecting records and went on to start mixing. It's an amazing story how our father got us started buying one record per week, then started buying 45s at the corner drug store, then our mom would take us to uptown where we found records at Golblatt's and Toppers, then we discovered Sounds Good and Rose Records. One day we took the train downtown on a journey where we went on to discover "Imports Etc" and "Loop Records". I think the first record we bought at Imports was the import of "Genius Of Love" by Tom Tom Club. Little did we know that the music we were buying has being played in clubs like The Warehouse, Paradise Garage, and other major clubs. It's been all LOVE!

Growing up in 80's, I played tons of house parties for family and friends. Playing slow songs was just as important as playing the latest dance songs. Club owners use to love me for playing slow songs because I sent packed dance floors to the bar to buy drinks, while other stayed on the dance floor. I was never afraid to clear a dance floor because I knew I could get them back if I wanted them.
